Information on use of animal models needed for NC3R’s application

The Musculoskeletal Physiology Research Group at Nottingham Trent University are preparing a grant application to the BBSRC/NC3Rs on bone ageing.  As part of this grant they would like to provide some metrics on how many animals are used in the UK in age-related or bone-related research. Ideally they would like to provide numbers from 2 or 3 labs/research groups and this is where we are seeking some assistance from the BSRA Community. Does your lab or others use rats or mice in the research areas mentioned above? If so, we would appreciate it if you could tell us approximately how many per year you might use?

If you would be able to help us out with this request then please drop us a line at craig.sale@ntu.ac.uk or livia.santos@ntu.ac.uk. Many thanks for your time spent in consideration of this request.
