Professor Valter Longo
Title: ‘Fasting Mimicking Diet Cycles, Cellular Reprogramming and Healthy Longevity’
Wednesday 9 September, 5pm
O’Reilly Lecture Theatre, Keble College, University of Oxford
We are delighted that our keynote public lecture at this year’s Annual Scientific Meeting will be given by Professor Valter Longo.
Dr. Valter Longo is the Edna M. Jones Professor of Gerontology and Biological Sciences and Director of the Longevity Institute at the University of Southern California – Leonard Davis School of Gerontology, Los Angeles, one of the leading centers for research on aging and age-related disease. Dr Longo is an Italian-American biogerontologist and cell biologist known for his studies on the role of fasting and nutrient response genes on cellular protection aging and diseases, and has published various books about longevity and fasting.
This year, to celebrate the BSRA’s landmark 75th Annual Scientific Meeting, Professor David Weinkove, Chair of the BSRA Board of Trustees, will host a special Chair’s Reception after the public lecture for all attendees. It will be a chance to meet Dr Longo and many other scientists working in the field of ageing.
Places are limited, with fifty tickets available for members of the public at a cost of £18. Tickets include entry to the lecture and reception, and must be purchased in advance. If you have already received a VIP invitation to the reception, or you are a registered delegate at the conference, we will already be expecting you.
Any questions can be sent to BSRA CEO, Sally Bird: sally.bird@bsra.org.uk
Parking: There is very limited on-street parking in Saint Giles and in the streets around Keble College. You are advised to use a park-and-ride, as the buses into town from all the park-and-rides are free. From Oxford Parkway (Station and P&R) the 2,2A, 600 and 800 all stop on Banbury Road at the Keble Road junction, take about 15 minutes and are very frequent.
