The BSRA is delighted to announce that Quest Nutra\Pharma responded to our Six for 2026 fundraising campaign with a generous offer to fund three of our Small Research Grants.
BSRA member, Dr Ahmed Hassam, read our campaign email and got in touch to discuss the potential for Quest Nutra\Pharma to support it.
Ahmed came to the UK as a refugee from Uganda in the seventies. A research grant gave him the opportunity to pursue a PhD at the University of London at the Nuffield Institute of Comparative Medicine, under the supervision of Professor Michael Crawford. His research there was in the field of essential fatty acids and their role in human health.
Recognising the value of small research grants to kickstart careers, Ahmed saw an opportunity for his company, Quest Nutra\Pharma, to support talented researchers through the BSRA.
We are very grateful to Ahmed for sharing his story with us, and to Quest Nutra\Pharma for such a generous contribution that will allow us to fund more small research grants this year. Quest Nutra\Pharma are a company that sits between nutraceuticals and supporting the pharmaceutical industry through manufacturing. They will have no say in the grant review process, but the three successful applications that best align with their research interests will be known as the 2026 Quest Nutra\Pharma Small Research Grants.
Our current grant call is open until March 1st, so do read our guidelines and join the BSRA to be eligible to apply.
If you or your company would like increase the number of researchers in ageing research we can support by contributing towards the 2026 BSRA small grants, summer studentships or travel grants, please get in touch with either BSRA Chair, David Weinkove, or CEO Sally Bird.
